Made of 3/16″ steel plate, this reinforcement plate, along with the special surface ground spacers and grade 8 hardware, provides even pressure along the entire bottom half of the timing chain cover on your Spridget, Morris Minor, original Mini, and any other BMC/Leyland/Rover series A engine.

Often the timing chain cover, made of very thin sheet metal, gets distorted when the attaching bolts are overtightened, creating gaps which leak oil. Solve that problem forever.

The surface ground spacers sit over the bolt holes on the timing chain cover. they are the same height as the ridges which are between the bolt holes. The plate sits on top of the ridges and the spacers so the tightening pressure of the bolts is evenly disbursed along the timing chain cover.

NOTE: 948 timing chain covers do not use the spacers as the “channel” where the bolt holes are located is flat, not having the ridges between the bolt holes.

The first picture shows the reinforcement plate with the included hardware. The second picture shows the reinforcement plate mounted on a timing chain cover and front engine plate. In the second picture the spacers are under the reinforcement plate in the location of the bolt holes
